Imtiyaz Vilatra also fondly called as “Khan” in the OOH industry comes from the old school when OOH was still referred to only as “Outdoor”.
Having seen the industry grow from measly morsels to the mainline-competing media that it has become today, Imtiyaz’ own rise has been no less meteoric in the OOH industry. After graduating from Mumbai’s Sydenham College, he started his career as a small cog-in-the-wheel of “Roshan Publicity” the Mumbai’s largest Outdoor media owner. Imtiyaz cut his teeth in the nitty-gritty of Mumbai’s OOH landscape as much on the streets as in the office.
Willy-nilly after 4 years of showing consistent, hard-fought growth and another year at the helm of the Mumbai operations of Alakh Publicity, Imtiyaz came into his own when he was picked up by Ogilvy Landscape, the OOH division of Ogilvy and Mather.
Starting with a few small accounts, he went on to head some of the largest accounts of Ogilvy Landscape including Vodafone, Cadbury, ICICI Bank, Marico, DSP Blackrock,Franklin Templeton among others
After a 11-years stint, he left his position as Business Director at Ogilvy in end 2009 and then started Milestone Brandcomm with his Ogilvy colleagues as founder member and managing partner to set the proverbial ball rolling on entrepreneurship. Since then there has been no looking back. Today Milestone Brandcomm is unanimously hailed as India’s fastest & largest growing OOH firm with billings and clients to rival the best in the country. Thanks in no small measure to Imtiyaz’ efforts and hard work, Milestone Brandcomm today services the crème-de-la-crème of brands in India, both Indian and MNCs.
As a workaholic who puts in more than 75 hours a week, Imtiyaz also understands the importance of home and family. Hence Holidays and weekends are strictly kept aside for spending quality time with his soulmate wife and 2 sons on whom he dotes. His love for adventure sports also ensures that he has an active hobby which keeps him sharp both physically and mentally. Even today, 18 years of OOH experience have not dulled Imtiyaz’ passion for the business and even today he looks forward to signing the next deal and executing the next campaign with as much enthusiasm and aplomb as he did on his first job.
