"Joy Bhattacharjya is currently Project Director, U-17 FIFA World Cup 2017. Formerly, he has been a director with the Kolkata Knight Riders. This association started when he designed an IPL bidding system for them along with two auction theory specialists from Indian Statistical Institute. Joy also consults with both content and marketing organisations. The content consultancy is with the likes of Ignitee Sports and Tangerine. On the other end of the spectrum, he consults with GSK on creating advertiser funded media properties and investments in sporting properties.
His base competencies are as a production and programming person, a role in which he spent 15 years with the likes of National Geographic Channel, ESPN Star Sports, Big Synergy Media Ltd and IMG. He was the head of programming for both the History Channel and National Geographic channel for South Asia, and ESPN Star Sports' first Indian Head of Production.
Some of the properties he initiated and launched were Super Selector, Dream Job, Harsha Ki Khoj, the Samsung ESPN Cricket Ratings and the first ever bi-lingual broadcast for ESPN in the Asia Cup 2004. Joy is the author of The First XI: Junior Premier League published by Penguin Books India in 2014."
