Gayatri spearheads Marketing & Corporate Communications, Innovation and CSR for Total in South Asia. Total is a global integrated energy producer and provider, a leading international oil and gas company, and the world’s second-ranked solar energy operator. It has operations in more than 130 countries worldwide and has been present in India since 1993. In her current profile, Gayatri is shaping the changing consumer behaviour in downstream products businesses such as Lubricants, LPG and Solar through communication campaigns that are targeted both to businesses as well as last mile consumers. She leads the CSR practice at Total that contributes to the government’s Skill India programme and provides sustained employment to under-privileged youth in India by joining hands with NGO Sambhav. Gayatri is also shaping the innovation agenda for Total where she is responsible for bringing digital transformation across the value chain that empowers employees, trade and customers.
Gayatri comes with 15 years of work experience in Communications & CSR, 9 of which she spent at Vodafone where she was instrumental in launching M-Pesa, Vodafone’s mobile money service. In her stint with M-Pesa, she was also instrumental in carrying out a joint study with GSMA for understanding usage behavior of women in rural India for financial saving instruments.
Gayatri wears many hats; she is an artist specialising in oil on canvas, a yoga and spiritual enthusiast and a hobby blogger. She holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Christ College, Bengaluru and an MBA in Marketing from T.A. Pai Management Institute.
