He returned to India in February 2009, after a two year stint in Singapore, as the network restructured itself to focus on a handful of core and emerging markets in these challenging times.

 


He oversees the operations of the network in India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh, as its CEO-South Asia.

 


Under his leadership, Starcom MediaVest Group in India has built a compelling portfolio of competencies in many non-classical disciplines as well as emerged as the best practice market within the SMG network for lines of business. Prominent amongst these are Sports and Cause Enabled Marketing [Relay Worldwide], Entertainment and Embedded Marketing [The Bridge], Online and Wireless marketing [Starcom IP], Out-of-Home and Ambient Marketing [Navia], Small Town and Rural Marketing [Xpanse], Retail Branding and Navigational Signage [Enhance] and Lifestyle Marketing [‘C’].
In his second role as Emerging Market Leader for Specialist Solutions,

 

he supports and coaches his peers across China, Russia, Mexico, Poland and the Middle East, in developing relevant non-classical disciplines and revenue streams.

 


He is a member of the 12-person Global Management Group—Starcom MediaVest Group’s global executive leadership team tasked to develop the Agency of the Future vision and accelerate the expansion opportunities in the areas of financial growth, emerging markets, talent management and digital capabilities.
Since 2003, Kiran has been chairing the marketing committee of Indian Readership Survey, India’s premier readership and product usage survey, which is conducted under the aegis of the Media Research Users’ Council.

 

He regularly speaks in industry fora across the region as well as is engaged in teaching assignments as visiting faculty in several business schools in India. Kiran has over 19 years experience as an advertising and media professional, on such clients as MasterCard, NIIT, Reckitt, Essar Cellphone, ITC and Diageo. Kiran holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from University of Kashmir and an MBA Marketing degree from Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi. He lives in Mumbai with his wife Shalini. His interests include technology, behavioral sciences and philosophy.
