A new category has been included to the existing 23 award categories for the Outdoor Advertising Awards 2008.
Until last year, creative poster executions, either as one element of a larger out-of-home campaign or as a standalone poster creative, competed with other outdoor formats in the categories. But with the addition of the new category, Best Use of Posters, poster executions can now be entered ONLY in that category. A poster execution, for example for an FMCG brand, cannot be entered in the category for FMCG but will have to be entered only in the new category.
There will be two awards in each category, Gold & Silver and a merit certificate. Participants can send in as many entries in each category.

3. Entertainment & Media -TV channels, radio, outdoor concessionaires, movies, music labels, festivals, Artistes etc
4. Automotive - Manufacturers and suppliers including consumables and spares
5. FMCG - Personal care, household, food & beverages
6. Consumer Durables - White goods, brown goods
7. Business & Technology - Corporate advertising, business products and services
8. Retail Brands - stores, restaurants, salons, clubs, gyms etc.
9. Real Estate & Construction - Real estate developers, construction products and services
10.Travel & Hospitality - Airlines, railways, bus services, hotels, destinations, tour operators, travel services etc.
11. Public and Social Service - Health, environment and social issues
12. Healthcare - Hospitals, OTC medicines, equipment and services
13. Clothing, Footwear & Accessories - Clothes, footwear and accessories like watches, jewellery, bags, purses, belts etc.
14. Education & Training - Universities, colleges, schools and training institutes
Categories : 15 - 18
15. Innovation of the Year - the most innovative special effect created on any conventional outdoor format and includes special builds, 3D cutouts, customized lighting, creation of movement etc.
16. Best Use of Ambient Media - The most creative use of non-conventional outdoor media and includes structured ambient like restroom, shopping malls (excluding point-of-purchase advertising), airport, bus stations, theatres etc. as well as one-off, non-scaleable ambient opportunities.
17. Best Use of New Technology - The most creative use of emerging display technologies like LEDs, magink screens, projection techniques etc
18. Best use of Posters - Best creatives on posters in stipulated poster locations and other out-of-home locations but not including point-of-purchase advertising posters.

19. Best Format Innovation - Awarded to outdoor media concessionaires who have created new and innovative advertising formats or altered existing formats to create a more compelling advertising fascia for advertisers.

20. Best Print Innovation - Awarded to printing houses who have created innovative and effective print solutions for advertisers.

21. Media Owner of the Year - Awards to concessionaires who have introduced the most number of innovations in media formats within the stipulated period. These could include new structures, innovative sizes/ shapes, unexplored locations etc.

22. Printer of the Year - Awarded to progressive and forward thinking large format printing companies, these awards will be judged by a separate jury comprising advertising professionals from brand marketing and specialist outdoor agencies. The entries will be adjudged on multiple parameters like print innovation, print quality, consistency, value-added services, service orientation etc.

23. Outdoor Media Plan of the Year - This award honors Outdoor Advertising Campaigns that effectively combine creative, media strategy & planning and execution to deliver to stated objectives of a brand. An eminent panel, comprising professionals from brand marketing, media buying and outdoor specialist agencies, will judge the entries.

24. Campaign of the Year - Awarded to any campaign, irrespective of product / service and outdoor media format, comprising a minimum of three creative concepts based on the same central idea.
